Irfaan Fredericks
Head of Production
Irfaan Fredericks is a film and television producer whose career spans over two decades, from hands-on crew-level production through to company leadership, studio oversight at Amazon MGM Studios, and independent producing across multiple territories.
He began in 2003 as a cable basher, an entry point that gave him an unusually grounded understanding of how productions actually run. That foundation has informed every role he's held since: not as a theoretical framework, but as lived operational knowledge applied at every level of the industry.
After co-founding and scaling Kalahari Film & Media into a recognised South African production company, Irfaan founded Wallflower Productions, focused on developing original African content for global audiences. That work led to a leadership role at Amazon MGM Studios, where he oversaw scripted production across the Middle East and Africa.
At Amazon MGM, Irfaan became a strong advocate for a structural shift in how productions are built — one that has since become central to his producing philosophy: post production belongs at the table from day one. Rather than treating post as a downstream phase that inherits the problems of a shoot, he pushed for post to be embedded into development planning, budgeting, and creative execution from the outset. The result was a more disciplined, end-to-end production model that consistently met the delivery standards of a global platform.
He now works independently, connecting studios and productions with streamlined operations across Africa, the Middle East, India, and the United Kingdom — bringing with him the rare combination of studio-level rigour and the instincts of someone who built things from the ground up.
